Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology Awarded $50,000 Grant for Media Studio Development

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is honored to announce that it has been awarded a $50,000 Individual School Assessment and Planning grant from the Pathways for Tomorrow Coordination Program, a joint effort between The Association of Theological Schools and In Trust Center for Theological Schools. This funding will support The Scriptorium Initiative team (Rev. Dr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Dr. James C. Skedros, Dr. Sebastian Mahfood, OP) as it prepares to establish a professional recording studio on campus. The studio would be a foundational step toward launching the school’s Continuing Education Program.

With the creation of this interactive media studio, Holy Cross will enhance theological education and outreach by producing master classes and high-quality digital content for clergy, lay ministers, and Orthodox faithful. This initiative aligns with the mission of Holy Cross to equip leaders with transformative resources for ministry.

Dr. Demetrios Katos, President of Hellenic College Holy Cross, remarked, “I congratulate Fr. Eugen and The Scriptorium team for their ongoing efforts to develop a studio for the production of continuing educational offerings to the faithful of the Archdiocese and for the clergy who serve them. This most recent grant expresses the commitment of Holy Cross to extend its educational impact beyond the confines of the seminary.”

“This grant is a significant milestone in our commitment, as the only Greek Orthodox School of Theology in the U.S., to expanding Orthodox theological education beyond the seminary,” said Fr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Dean of Holy Cross who is working on the project. “A professional studio under the auspices of The Scriptorium Initiative at Holy Cross will allow us to engage clergy and laity nationwide in new and meaningful ways.”

The proposed media center will facilitate live virtual discussions, recorded lectures, and multimedia resources, strengthening Holy Cross’ impact across the more than 500 Greek Orthodox parishes in the U.S.
